Alban Manor - A day in the life

We absolutely love the film. It captures everything we wanted – fun, warmth, personality and the real feeling of family here. Tokyo’s voiceover is a brilliant touch and everyone smiles when they watch it.

The Client

Alban Manor is a warm and welcoming nursing home set in beautiful surroundings in St Albans. Known for its strong sense of community and compassionate care, the team were looking for a creative way to showcase everyday life at the home — something engaging, heartwarming, and a little different from the norm.

The Brief

The team at Alban Manor wanted a short film that would help prospective residents and their families get a real feel for the home – its friendly atmosphere, dedicated staff and the joy that daily routines can bring. Rather than a standard corporate video, they were open to a more creative, light-hearted approach. That’s when we were introduced to Tokyo – their beloved resident dog – and a brilliant idea was born!

The Solution

We proposed telling the story of Alban Manor through the eyes of its beloved dog, Tokyo. A playful “day in the life” film, narrated from her point of view, would engage viewers and show the home’s personality.
This approach highlighted both the practical routines and emotional warmth of life at Alban Manor — all with a smile.

Our team developed the entire concept from start to finish. We scripted the story in Tokyo’s voice — chatty, cheeky and full of heart. Our team planned the shoot, mapped out locations, and managed every aspect of the on-site production.

Tokyo was filmed as she trotted through the home, stopping to greet residents and staff. She visited the laundry (her favourite place), sat patiently for treats, and spread joy as she explored. Each moment helped us capture the spirit of daily life at Alban Manor.

In post-production, we selected the best footage to match the story. We crafted a pacey, engaging edit and found the perfect voice to bring Tokyo’s thoughts to life. Finally, we added warm music, a subtle colour grade, and polished the visuals to complete the film’s charm.

The Outcome

The final 90-second film is now proudly featured on the Alban Manor website and social media channels. Its sent to all prospective families and gives a genuine insight into daily life at the home — through a lens of playfulness, connection and care.

It’s a standout example of how a strong concept, thoughtful scripting, and professional production can transform a simple idea into a powerful marketing tool — one that not only informs but leaves a lasting impression.
